International Expert Appointed to Keep New Zealanders Winning on the World Stage

High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ) are delighted to announce the appointment of Erik-Jan Koers to the Senior Leadership Team as General Manager Performance and Strategic Investment.

Koers arrives from the NOC*NSF (The Dutch Olympic Committee*Dutch Sports Federation) where as Performance Manager Sports Intelligence he led the NOC*NSF elite sports programs monitoring, evaluation and feedback system as well as the financial management of the NOC*NSF elite sports investment program.

Confirming the appointment, HPSNZ Chief Executive Alex Baumann commented:

“I am delighted to welcome Erik-Jan to the New Zealand high performance system. The position of General Manager Performance and Strategic Investment is fundamental to HPSNZ, as it leads our targeted investment approach, which is a central part of our strategy”.

“Erik-Jan brings more than 20 years’ sports management experience across a number of leadership and senior management positions including Performance Intelligence, Elite Sports Policy, Elite Programme Management as well as leadership roles within the NSO environment”.

Koers was also a key part of the Dutch high performance system that recently achieved 19 medals for the Netherland’s at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, including eight gold.

Baumann continued:

“With his experience and performance driven philosophy, Erik-Jan will play a key role in delivering HPSNZ’s targeted investment strategy in partnership with sporting organisations, to co-create a world-leading, sustainable high performance sport system”.

Reflecting on his appointment, Koers commented:

With an Executive Masters in Sports Organization Management (IOC), a Bachelor’s in Sport Management and a Master’s in Business Law, Mr. Koers will join HPSNZ in March 2017.
